Tesla Model Y ADAS Calibration

The Tesla Model Y is the best-selling Tesla in the UK – and our most-requested Tesla for camera calibration. Every Model Y built since its 2021 UK launch uses Tesla Vision: eight cameras, no radar. If your Model Y has had a windscreen replacement, collision repair, or any bodywork that touches the front end or B-pillars, the entire Autopilot camera array needs professional recalibration.

Tesla Vision on the Model Y

The Model Y uses the same 8-camera Tesla Vision system across all variants – Standard Range, Long Range, and Performance:

  • 3 forward-facing cameras (main, wide-angle, narrow telephoto) – mounted directly to the windscreen behind the rearview mirror. These power Traffic-Aware Cruise Control, Autosteer, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Avoidance.
  • 2 B-pillar cameras – side-facing, monitoring adjacent lanes for Side Collision Warning and Auto Lane Change.
  • 2 rear quarter cameras – covering blind spots and assisting with Smart Summon.
  • 1 rear-facing camera – used for reversing, rear cross-traffic, and Autopark.

Unlike the Tesla Model X with its falcon-wing doors, the Model Y's conventional hatchback design means B-pillar cameras are rarely disturbed except in side impacts. The most common calibration trigger on the Model Y is windscreen replacement – which affects all three forward cameras.

Why Your Model Y Might Need Calibration

After Windscreen Replacement

The three forward cameras sit behind the windscreen glass. When the windscreen is replaced, these cameras shift position. Your Model Y may display "Camera alignment in progress" and attempt self-calibration – but this frequently fails to achieve the precision required for Autopilot and FSD features. Professional static calibration restores full accuracy. See our guide on windscreen replacement and ADAS for more detail.

After Front-End Collision or Bumper Repair

Any impact to the Model Y's front end can affect the forward camera cluster. Because there's no radar backup on any Model Y, even a minor misalignment degrades Automatic Emergency Braking and Traffic-Aware Cruise Control. Our collision calibration covers multi-camera realignment.

Persistent Autopilot Warnings

If your Model Y shows "Some Autopilot features may be temporarily unavailable" for more than 48 hours after a repair, the onboard self-calibration has likely failed. This is common after bodywork – even if the repair didn't directly touch the cameras. See all Tesla models we calibrate on our Tesla ADAS calibration page.

Tesla Model Y Calibration Pricing

ServicePrice
Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349

Windscreen replacement on a Model Y requires recalibration of all three forward cameras – that's our £199 Windscreen Calibration. If multiple cameras need attention after collision repair, our £499 Full System Reset covers the complete 8-camera array.

Tesla Model Y ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Tesla Model Y

No. Every Model Y sold in the UK uses Tesla Vision — cameras only, no radar. This means camera calibration is the only way to restore ADAS functionality after any repair that disturbs the camera positions. There is no radar to fall back on. If you need windscreen calibration after glass replacement, or full system reset after collision repair, we handle both at our 70+ UK workshops.
