Toyota Auris ADAS Calibration

Error code C1234 on your Toyota Auris? This Toyota-specific fault code indicates a radar or camera calibration issue within the Safety Sense system. The Auris may be discontinued, but there are still thousands on UK roads – and their ADAS systems still need professional calibration after repairs. Our IMI-certified technicians recalibrate Auris radar and camera systems at 70+ workshops across the UK.

ADAS Systems on Your Toyota Auris

The second-generation Auris (E180, 2012–2018) received Toyota Safety Sense on facelift models from 2015:

  • Pre-Collision System (PCS) – automatic emergency braking using the front radar
  • Lane Departure Alert (LDA) – windscreen camera-based lane detection
  • Automatic High Beam (AHB) – camera-controlled headlight management

The Auris carries first-generation TSS – not TSS 2.0. This means it lacks Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) and Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) that newer Toyotas have. However, the sensors that power PCS and LDA still require calibration after physical disturbance.

Key distinction: The Auris was replaced by the Corolla in 2019. If your "Auris" is a 2019+ model, it's technically a Corolla and runs TSS 2.0 with a different sensor configuration.

The Auris's front radar sits behind the grille badge area. The windscreen camera mounts behind the rearview mirror – same position as other Toyotas, but the first-gen TSS camera module is physically different from TSS 2.0 units.

Common Auris ADAS Issues

Pre-Collision System Warning After Repair

The Auris's PCS uses the front radar to detect obstacles. After bumper repairs, front-end work, or even aftermarket grille modifications, this radar can lose alignment. If your Auris is showing a Pre-Collision System warning on the dashboard, the radar likely needs recalibration rather than replacement.

Windscreen Replacement on Older TSS

First-generation TSS on the Auris uses an older camera module with different calibration targets compared to TSS 2.0. Not all windscreen fitters have the calibration equipment for this older system. If your windscreen company replaced the glass but couldn't recalibrate the camera, we can complete the job – our equipment covers all TSS generations.

Used Auris Purchases

The Auris is a popular used car in the UK. If you've bought one and the Pre-Collision System or Lane Departure Alert isn't functioning, a previous owner's unreported repair or sensor disturbance may be the cause. Our technicians diagnose and recalibrate without needing the service history. Check our guide on ADAS error codes for what specific fault codes mean. The Toyota RAV4 and other models see similar issues after ownership changes.

Toyota Auris ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Toyota Auris

If your Auris is a 2015+ facelift model (E180), it has first-generation Toyota Safety Sense with Pre-Collision System and Lane Departure Alert. Pre-facelift Auris models (2012–2014) generally don't have ADAS sensors requiring calibration. Check your dashboard — if PCS or LDA icons appear, your car has these systems.
