Toyota bZ4X ADAS Calibration

Toyota's first dedicated electric vehicle runs the latest Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite – the most advanced ADAS package Toyota has shipped. The bZ4X is built on the e-TNGA platform shared with the Subaru Solterra, but the two use different ADAS software tuning, so calibration procedures are Toyota-specific. If your bZ4X's Pre-Collision System or Lane Tracing Assist has stopped working after a repair, we recalibrate it at 70+ UK workshops from £199.

ADAS Systems on Your Toyota bZ4X

The bZ4X ships with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 as standard across all UK trims:

  • Pre-Collision System (PCS) – AEB with intersection support, pedestrian, cyclist, and motorcycle detection – a TSS 3.0 upgrade over earlier generations
  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) – full-speed adaptive cruise using the front radar module
  • Lane Departure Alert (LDA) with steering assist
  • Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) – active lane centering on motorways and dual carriageways
  • Emergency Steering Assist (ESA) – new to TSS 3.0, assists steering to avoid collisions
  • Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) – rear-quarter radar sensors
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA)
  • Automatic High Beam (AHB)

The bZ4X's front radar sits behind the lower grille area, while the forward camera is windscreen-mounted behind the rearview mirror. Because this is a full EV with no engine noise to mask sensor faults, warning messages tend to appear on the digital instrument cluster immediately when calibration drifts.

The e-TNGA platform positions sensors differently from Toyota's TNGA-K models like the RAV4. Calibration targets and procedures are bZ4X-specific – they cannot be copied from other Toyota models.

When Your bZ4X Needs ADAS Calibration

After Front-End Collision or Bumper Repair

The bZ4X's front radar powers both DRCC and PCS. Any front bumper removal, replacement, or collision impact shifts the radar alignment. Because TSS 3.0 uses tighter calibration tolerances than TSS 2.0, even minor bumper work can trigger a "Pre-Collision System malfunction" warning. Our radar calibration restores factory alignment.

After Windscreen Replacement

The windscreen camera runs LDA, LTA, ESA, AHB, and Road Sign Assist. After glass replacement, these systems need recalibration before they function correctly. On the bZ4X, Emergency Steering Assist depends on this camera – leaving it uncalibrated disables one of the vehicle's most advanced safety features.

Toyota bZ4X Calibration Pricing

ServicePrice
Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349
Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

Most bZ4X owners need windscreen camera calibration after glass replacement – that's our £199 fixed rate. If both radar and camera need attention after a collision, our £349 Collision Calibration covers both in a single appointment.

Toyota bZ4X ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Toyota bZ4X

Yes. The bZ4X runs on the e-TNGA electric platform with TSS 3.0 — different sensor mounting positions and tighter calibration targets than TNGA-based models like the Corolla or RAV4. Our technicians use bZ4X-specific calibration procedures and manufacturer-approved equipment.
