Toyota Mirai ADAS Calibration

The Toyota Mirai is a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle built on Toyota's TNGA-L platform – the same rear-wheel-drive architecture used for the Lexus LS. It carries Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 with a full complement of radar and camera-based systems that require precision calibration after any repair that disturbs the sensors. If your Mirai's Dynamic Radar Cruise Control or Pre-Collision System has gone offline, our IMI-certified technicians handle it at 70+ UK workshops.

ADAS Systems on the Toyota Mirai

The second-generation Mirai (2020+) sits on the TNGA-L platform – a rear-wheel-drive architecture shared with Toyota's luxury models. It carries Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 as standard:

  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) – full-speed adaptive cruise using the front radar behind the lower grille. The Mirai's unique front-end styling positions the radar differently from crossover models like the RAV4.
  • Pre-Collision System (PCS) – automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection via radar and camera working together.
  • Lane Departure Alert (LDA) – camera-based lane monitoring with steering assist.
  • Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) – active lane centring that works in conjunction with DRCC on motorways. Windscreen camera-dependent.
  • Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) – rear radar sensors in the bumper detecting vehicles in adjacent lanes.
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) – rear sensors warning of approaching traffic when reversing.
  • Automatic High Beam (AHB) – camera-based headlight management.
  • Road Sign Assist (RSA) – camera reads speed limit and regulatory signs.

The Mirai's TNGA-L platform positions it differently from the TNGA-C and TNGA-K architectures used by the Corolla and Highlander. The rear-wheel-drive layout and longer wheelbase mean the front radar angle and camera height differ from other TSS 2.0 Toyotas – calibration targets are model-specific.

When Your Toyota Mirai Needs Calibration

After Bumper Repair

The Mirai's distinctive front-end design features a large, sculpted bumper with integrated air intakes for the fuel cell cooling system. The front radar sits within this bumper assembly. Any bumper repair – even cosmetic work that does not involve the radar module directly – can shift the sensor. Radar calibration restores DRCC and PCS.

After Windscreen Replacement

Lane Tracing Assist, Lane Departure Alert, Automatic High Beam, and Road Sign Assist all depend on the windscreen-mounted camera. A glass swap requires professional windscreen calibration to restore these systems.

Limited UK Numbers, Same Standards

The Mirai sells in small numbers in the UK due to limited hydrogen infrastructure. This means fewer technicians have direct experience with its ADAS configuration. Our multi-brand OEM-grade equipment calibrates TSS 2.0 on the Mirai using the same manufacturer-approved protocols as any Toyota – no specialist hydrogen vehicle knowledge needed for ADAS work.

Toyota Mirai Calibration Pricing

The Mirai's TSS 2.0 suite with both radar and camera means collision repairs often need both sensors recalibrated – our £349 Collision Calibration covers multi-sensor work in one appointment. Same fixed price as every other Toyota we service.

Toyota Mirai ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Toyota Mirai

The Mirai uses Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 — the same ADAS brand found on the Corolla and Camry. The system names and functionality are identical. The difference is the TNGA-L platform, which positions sensors at different heights and angles from other Toyotas. Our equipment applies model-specific calibration parameters for the Mirai.
