ADAS Calibration for Volkswagen models

Volkswagen owners account for over 20% of our calibration requests - more than any other brand we service. The reason is simple: VW's radar sensor sits behind the front grille badge, and any bumper repair, grille replacement, or front-end collision knocks it out of alignment. If your Volkswagen's Front Assist or ACC has stopped working, we calibrate it back to manufacturer specification.

Volkswagen ADAS Calibration Cost

Calibration costs depend on your specific Volkswagen model, which ADAS systems need recalibration, and whether mobile or workshop service is required.

Every Volkswagen model has different ADAS sensors fitted depending on trim level and year. Share your registration and we’ll confirm exactly which systems need calibration.

What Volkswagen ADAS Calibration Involves

The three most common calibration scenarios for Volkswagen vehicles — each linked to a dedicated service page.

£199 Starting price

Windscreen Camera Recalibration

Every Volkswagen with a forward-facing camera — including models with Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Autonomous Emergency Braking — requires camera recalibration after windscreen replacement. This is the most common Volkswagen ADAS job we carry out.

Radar & Sensor Alignment

Volkswagen models fitted with Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, or Rear Cross Traffic Alert carry radar modules behind the bumper or grille. Any bodywork repair or bumper removal requires sensor recalibration using manufacturer-specific targets and procedures.

Post-Collision Full Check

After any collision repair involving a Volkswagen, multiple ADAS sensors may be disturbed simultaneously — including cameras, radar modules, and parking sensors. A comprehensive post-collision calibration restores every system to factory tolerances and satisfies insurer documentation requirements.

Volkswagen ADAS Systems We Calibrate

Volkswagen names its ADAS systems differently from the generic terms you'll see elsewhere. Here's what your VW actually calls them:

  • Front Assist - Volkswagen's automatic emergency braking system. Monitors the road ahead and brakes if it detects an imminent collision. Uses the radar sensor behind the front badge.
  • ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) - Maintains your set speed and adjusts distance to the vehicle ahead. Relies on the same front radar as Front Assist.
  • Lane Assist - Detects lane markings via the windscreen-mounted camera and gently steers you back if you drift without signalling.
  • Side Assist - Monitors your blind spots using rear-mounted radar sensors. Alerts you when a vehicle is in your blind spot during lane changes.
  • Park Assist - Uses ultrasonic sensors around the vehicle for automated parking and proximity warnings.
  • Rear Traffic Alert - Warns of crossing traffic when reversing out of parking spaces.

Front Assist and ACC share the same radar sensor behind the VW badge on the front grille. When a bumper is removed or replaced, this sensor is almost always disturbed - which is why "Front Assist not available" is the most common dashboard message we see from VW owners.

Volkswagen Models - Full ADAS Calibration Coverage

The VW Golf is our most-calibrated model, accounting for nearly half of all Volkswagen requests. The Touareg and Passat follow, with the ID.3 increasingly common as VW's EV range grows.

We calibrate ADAS systems on every Volkswagen model currently on UK roads.

Volkswagen ADAS Calibration — Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about ADAS calibration for your Volkswagen

This message means your Volkswagen's automatic emergency braking system has detected a fault, usually with the front radar sensor. The most common causes are bumper removal during repairs, a front-end collision, or the sensor shifting out of alignment. A professional radar recalibration resolves this in most cases.
