Citroën C3 ADAS Calibration

Your Citroën C3's Active Safety Brake warning appeared after a windscreen replacement – and your fitter says they can't calibrate the camera. The third-generation C3 (2017+) has a forward-facing camera bonded to the windscreen that powers emergency braking, lane departure alerts, and speed sign recognition. When the glass changes, the camera must be recalibrated to restore all three systems.

ADAS Systems on Your Citroën C3

The C3 sits on Stellantis's CMP platform – the same architecture used by the Peugeot 208 and Vauxhall Corsa. From the third generation (2017+), the C3 comes with:

  • Active Safety Brake – automatic emergency braking using the windscreen-mounted camera. Detects vehicles and stationary obstacles ahead
  • Active Lane Departure Warning – alerts when you drift toward lane markings without indicating
  • Speed Sign Recognition – reads road speed signs and displays them on the instrument cluster
  • Coffee Break Alert – monitors steering inputs and suggests rest stops when fatigue patterns are detected

The forward-facing camera sits at the top of the windscreen behind the rear-view mirror. Earlier C3 models (pre-2017) have no camera-based ADAS and do not require calibration.

Common ADAS Issues on the Citroën C3

After Windscreen Replacement

The C3's primary ADAS sensor is the windscreen camera. When the glass is replaced, the camera is removed and refitted – but it loses its factory alignment in the process. Active Safety Brake, Lane Departure Warning, and Speed Sign Recognition all stop working until the camera is recalibrated. If your windscreen company couldn't complete it, our Windscreen Calibration at £199 handles it.

Active Safety Brake Dashboard Warning

If your C3 displays "Active Safety Brake unavailable" without a recent windscreen change, the camera may have shifted from road vibration or a minor impact to the windscreen area. A diagnostic scan identifies whether the camera needs recalibration or if there's a sensor fault.

After Front-End Collision

While the C3's ADAS relies primarily on the windscreen camera rather than a bumper-mounted radar, a front-end collision can still affect the camera mounting bracket behind the windscreen. If ADAS warnings appeared after collision repair, the camera alignment should be checked.

Citroën C3 ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Citroën C3

Yes — every C3 from 2017 onward has a windscreen-mounted camera. Replacing the glass requires recalibration of Active Safety Brake, Lane Departure Warning, and Speed Sign Recognition. Without calibration, these systems remain inactive. Our windscreen replacement ADAS guide explains the process.
