DS Automobiles DS 4 ADAS Calibration

The DS 4 is one of only a handful of cars where a windscreen replacement affects both ADAS safety systems and the suspension. DS Active Scan Suspension reads the road surface through the same windscreen-mounted camera that powers Active Safety Brake and lane keeping. When the glass is changed, both systems lose their reference – and most windscreen fitters don't have the equipment to recalibrate either one.

ADAS Systems on Your DS 4

The current DS 4 (2021+) sits on an updated EMP2 platform variant and carries a substantial ADAS specification:

  • DS Drive Assist – Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go combined with Active Lane Keeping Assist for semi-autonomous driving
  • Active Safety Brake – automatic emergency braking detecting vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists
  • Active Lane Keeping Assist – steering intervention when drifting without indicating
  • Extended Traffic Sign Recognition – camera reads speed limits and signs
  • Blind Spot Monitoring – rear bumper sensors for adjacent-lane detection
  • DS Active Scan Suspension – uses the same windscreen camera as ADAS to read the road surface ahead and adjust damping in real time
  • Driver Attention Alert – fatigue monitoring

The forward camera behind the rear-view mirror serves double duty – ADAS and suspension. The front radar is in the bumper. Unlike the DS 7 and DS 9, the DS 4 does not have DS Night Vision.

Note: The first-generation DS 4 (2011–2018) has basic ADAS only. See the DS 4 Crossback for that model.

Why Your DS 4 Might Need ADAS Calibration

After Windscreen Replacement – ADAS and Suspension

This is the DS 4's unique calibration scenario. Replacing the windscreen displaces the camera that powers DS Drive Assist, Active Safety Brake, traffic sign recognition, and DS Active Scan Suspension. If your DS 4 drives differently after a windscreen swap – harsher ride, ADAS warnings, or both – the camera needs recalibration.

After Front Bumper Repair

The front radar powers Adaptive Cruise Control and the radar element of Active Safety Brake. Bumper repair or replacement shifts the radar and requires radar calibration at £349.

DS Drive Assist Faults

DS Drive Assist requires both the camera and radar to function. If either sensor is misaligned, the entire suite deactivates – cruise control, lane keeping, and Active Safety Brake all go offline together.

DS Automobiles DS 4 ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the DS Automobiles DS 4

Yes — the current DS 4 (2021+) is available with DS Active Scan Suspension, which uses the same windscreen camera as ADAS features. After windscreen replacement, both ADAS and suspension camera functions need recalibrating. This is a shared trait with the DS 7 and DS 9.
