Kia Ceed ADAS Calibration

If your Kia Ceed is showing a Lane Keeping Assist warning or Smart Cruise Control has deactivated after a repair, the DriveWise sensors likely need recalibration. The Ceed carries Kia's camera and radar ADAS package – and even routine bodywork can knock these sensors out of alignment. Kia Ceed ADAS calibration from £199 at any of our 70+ UK workshops.

DriveWise Systems on the Kia Ceed

The Ceed (CD, 2018+) brought a meaningful upgrade in driver assistance over the previous model. Which systems your Ceed has depends on the variant and trim level.

Ceed hatchback, Sportswagon, and ProCeed (2018+):

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) – automatic emergency braking using the windscreen-mounted camera and front radar. Standard on most trims from 2019+.
  • Smart Cruise Control (SCC) – radar-based adaptive cruise. The radar sensor sits behind the lower front grille, below the Kia badge – a different location than the SUV models like Sportage and Sorento where it's behind the emblem.
  • Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) – camera-based lane departure correction. Uses the windscreen camera.
  • Driver Attention Warning (DAW) – monitors driving patterns for fatigue. Camera-dependent.

Key hardware detail: Unlike Kia's larger SUVs, the Ceed mounts the front radar behind the lower grille rather than behind the bumper badge. This means lower-grille damage or replacement – not just bumper work – triggers the need for radar recalibration.

When Your Kia Ceed Needs ADAS Calibration

After windscreen replacement

The Ceed's forward camera behind the windscreen controls Lane Keeping Assist and contributes to FCA. After any windscreen swap, the camera must be recalibrated – your windscreen fitter handles the glass, we handle the calibration.

After front grille or bumper damage

Because the Ceed's radar sits behind the lower front grille, even a minor front-end impact or grille replacement can misalign it. Smart Cruise Control will stop responding until the radar is professionally recalibrated.

After a Cat S or Cat N purchase

The Ceed is a popular choice in the UK used car market. If you've bought a Ceed that was previously written off and repaired, the ADAS systems may not have been recalibrated during the repair. Dashboard warnings for FCA or SCC are a common sign. Read more about ADAS calibration for salvage vehicles.

If your Ceed's adaptive cruise stopped working after bodywork near the front grille, the radar behind the lower grille panel needs recalibration – not the bumper badge area like on Kia's SUV models.

Kia Ceed ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Kia Ceed

On the Ceed (2018+), the front radar is mounted behind the lower front grille, below the Kia emblem. This differs from the Sportage and Sorento where the radar sits behind the bumper badge. Any grille replacement or lower front-end repair requires radar recalibration.
