Kia EV6 ADAS Calibration

You've collected your EV6 from the body shop after a front-end repair, and now the dashboard is showing a Forward Collision-Avoidance warning. The EV6 carries Kia's most advanced DriveWise suite – built on the dedicated E-GMP electric platform with sensors integrated into the bodywork from the ground up. When one sensor shifts, the entire system needs professional recalibration. From £199 at our 70+ UK workshops.

DriveWise Systems on the Kia EV6

The EV6 (CV, 2021+) launched on Hyundai Motor Group's E-GMP platform – purpose-built for electric vehicles. The ADAS sensor layout differs from Kia's ICE-platform models like the Ceed and Sportage in one key way: the front radar is integrated into the bumper design rather than mounted behind a traditional grille, making it more sensitive to bodywork changes.

Full DriveWise suite (standard across most trims):

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) 2.0 – camera and radar fusion with junction-turning, lane-change, and oncoming vehicle detection. The most advanced version of Kia's AEB system.
  • Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop & Go – radar-based adaptive cruise. On the EV6, this also integrates with the regenerative braking system for smoother deceleration.
  • Lane Following Assist (LFA) 2.0 – machine learning-based lane centring that adapts to driving style. Uses the windscreen camera.
  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) – rear radar sensors with active braking and steering intervention.
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) – rear radar detects crossing vehicles when reversing.
  • Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2) – combines SCC and LFA for semi-autonomous motorway driving. Dependent on both camera and radar being correctly calibrated.

The EV6 GT variant adds performance-tuned calibration parameters – the same physical sensors, but tighter tolerances that require manufacturer-specific calibration procedures.

When Your Kia EV6 Needs Calibration

After front bumper or bodywork repair

The EV6's front radar is integrated into the bumper assembly. Because there's no traditional grille to house the sensor separately, any front-end repair – even a cosmetic bumper respray – can affect radar alignment. Smart Cruise Control and Highway Driving Assist will deactivate until the radar is recalibrated.

After windscreen replacement

The forward-facing camera behind the windscreen controls LFA 2.0 and contributes to FCA. The EV6's large windscreen area means replacement is not uncommon, and the camera calibration must follow every swap.

After a collision involving rear sensors

The EV6's BCA system uses radar sensors in both rear quarter panels. Rear-end damage, even at low speed in a car park, can misalign these sensors. If Blind-Spot warnings have appeared since an incident, rear sensor calibration is needed.

If your EV6's Highway Driving Assist has stopped working after bodywork, both the front radar and windscreen camera may need recalibration – HDA 2 depends on both systems being correctly aligned.

Kia EV6 ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Kia EV6

The EV6 uses the E-GMP electric platform, which integrates the front radar differently than ICE-platform Kias like the Sportage. The calibration process requires E-GMP-specific procedures and parameters. Our technicians use OEM-grade equipment that covers all Kia platforms including E-GMP.
