Kia Stinger ADAS Calibration

The Kia Stinger is a rear-wheel-drive grand tourer – and its long bonnet positions the front radar further forward than on Kia's crossover models. That extended front end means the bumper-mounted radar sensor sits in a more exposed position during frontal impacts, and even moderate bodywork can shift it enough to disable Smart Cruise Control and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist. ADAS Line calibrates all Stinger DriveWise systems from £199 at 70+ UK workshops.

DriveWise Systems on the Kia Stinger

The Stinger (CK, 2017-2023) offered a strong DriveWise package, particularly on GT-Line and GT trims. The rear-drive platform means the sensor layout differs from Kia's front-drive crossovers:

  • Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop & Go – radar-based adaptive cruise. The radar sits behind the lower grille area, not behind the Kia emblem as on most models. This lower position makes it more susceptible to kerb-level impacts and road debris.
  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) – camera and radar fusion for vehicle and pedestrian detection. Standard on GT-Line and GT trims.
  • Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) – windscreen camera provides lane tracking and corrective steering.
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW) – camera-based drift alert working alongside LKA.
  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) – rear-quarter radar sensors with active intervention. Standard on GT-Line and above.
  • Driver Attention Warning (DAW) – monitors driving patterns for signs of fatigue.

The Stinger's radar position in the lower grille area is a key difference from models like the Sportage and Sorento that mount the radar behind the upper emblem. This lower mounting point is more exposed to undercarriage debris and kerb-strike damage.

When Your Kia Stinger Needs Calibration

After front-end collision or bumper repair – the Stinger's long nose means the front radar is further forward than on compact Kias, absorbing more impact energy in frontal collisions. Bumper replacement, lower grille work, or any front-end bodywork shifts the radar. SCC and FCA deactivate until radar recalibration restores alignment.

After windscreen replacement – LKA, LDW, and the camera component of FCA depend on the windscreen camera behind the rearview mirror. The Stinger's raked windscreen angle means precise camera mounting is critical. Every windscreen swap requires camera calibration.

After rear bodywork on a rear-drive platform – the Stinger's rear-drive layout positions drivetrain components differently from FWD Kias, but the BCA sensors sit in the same rear-quarter panel locations. Rear bumper repair, quarter panel work, or rear-end collision damage requires rear sensor recalibration. Cat S/N salvage Stingers – a growing market for this model – need full calibration verification. Our Cat S ADAS guide covers the requirements.

Kia Stinger Calibration Pricing

ServicePrice
Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349
Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

Stinger owners dealing with SCC failure after front-end work need radar calibration at £349 – fixed rate, including diagnostic scan. The lower radar mounting position means this calibration is particularly sensitive to precision on the Stinger.

Kia Stinger ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Kia Stinger

Yes. The Stinger mounts its front radar in the lower grille area, not behind the upper Kia emblem like the Sportage or EV6. This lower position makes it more vulnerable to road debris and kerb-level impacts, and calibration geometry differs from Kia's crossover models. See all Kia models
