Kia Stonic ADAS Calibration

Kia's Stonic is a compact crossover – smaller than the Sportage, more affordable, and popular with first-time Kia buyers. What many owners don't realise is that even the Stonic carries DriveWise systems that need recalibration after bodywork or windscreen replacement. If FCA or Lane Keeping Assist has stopped working since a repair, the sensors need attention. From £199.

DriveWise Systems on the Kia Stonic

The Stonic (YB, 2017+) sits at the more affordable end of Kia's range, which means a slimmer DriveWise suite compared to the full-fat setup on models like the Sorento or EV6. What it does carry still requires calibration when disturbed.

Stonic (2017–2020, pre-facelift):

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) – camera-based automatic emergency braking. Available on mid and higher trims. Uses the windscreen-mounted camera only – no front radar on base models.
  • Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) – camera-based lane departure warning with corrective steering input.
  • Driver Attention Warning (DAW) – monitors steering patterns for signs of fatigue.

Stonic (2021+, facelift):

  • FCA upgraded with pedestrian and cyclist detection.
  • Smart Cruise Control (SCC) added on higher trims – the first Stonic to get radar-based adaptive cruise. Front radar sits behind the lower grille area.
  • LKA and DAW carried over with software updates.

Key detail: Pre-facelift models rely entirely on the windscreen camera – windscreen replacement is the primary trigger. Post-2021 models with SCC add a radar behind the front grille, introducing a second sensor that needs attention after bumper work.

Common Calibration Triggers for the Stonic

After windscreen replacement

Every Stonic with DriveWise has a forward-facing camera behind the windscreen controlling FCA and LKA. After any windscreen replacement, the camera must be recalibrated or both systems remain inactive.

After front-end bodywork (2021+ with SCC)

If your facelift Stonic has SCC, the radar behind the lower grille needs recalibration after bumper repair, grille replacement, or front-end collision work.

After purchasing a used Stonic

The Stonic is popular in the UK used market. If you've bought one with dashboard warnings for FCA or LKA, the ADAS camera likely needs calibration – especially if the windscreen was replaced without follow-up calibration.

Kia Stonic ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Kia Stonic

If your Stonic has Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist or Lane Keeping Assist (check your instrument cluster for these functions), it uses a windscreen-mounted camera that needs recalibration after glass replacement. Base models without these features don't require ADAS calibration. See all Kia models
