Porsche 718 Cayman ADAS Calibration

The Porsche 718 Cayman has the most basic ADAS of any current Porsche – no ACC, no lane keeping, no InnoDrive. But it still carries ParkAssist ultrasonic sensors and a Speed Limit Display that depend on calibrated sensors. A bumper respray after a track day or a parking scuff at the supermarket can shift these sensors from their factory positions, and ParkAssist warnings appear on the dashboard until they're recalibrated.

ADAS Systems on Your Porsche 718 Cayman

The 718 Cayman (982, 2016–2024) is a mid-engine sports car with limited driver assistance:

  • ParkAssist – Front and rear ultrasonic parking sensors. Standard on most trims. Provides proximity warnings during parking manoeuvres.
  • Speed Limit Display – Reads speed limit signs and displays them on the instrument cluster. Camera-dependent.
  • Reversing Camera – Optional rear camera for parking assistance

The 718 Cayman does not have ACC, Lane Keep Assist, AEB, or Night Vision. It's the only current Porsche without radar-based driver assistance – the mid-engine layout and sports car focus mean Porsche prioritised driving engagement over automated systems.

The 718 Boxster is the convertible version with identical ADAS hardware.

When Your 718 Cayman Needs Calibration

After Bumper Repair or Respray

The 718's low, wide bumpers are track-day casualties and car park victims alike. ParkAssist sensors are embedded in both front and rear bumpers. After bumper removal, replacement, or even a respray where sensors were removed and refitted, ParkAssist needs recalibration to maintain accurate distance readings.

After Front-End or Rear-End Impact

A collision – even minor – can shift ultrasonic sensor positions. If ParkAssist warnings become erratic (false positives or no readings), the sensors have moved from their calibrated angles.

"ParkAssist Unavailable" Warning

This dashboard warning means one or more ultrasonic sensors can't communicate properly. Common after body shop work where sensors were disconnected and reconnected without recalibration.

Porsche 718 Cayman ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Porsche 718 Cayman

The 718 has minimal ADAS compared to the Cayenne or Panamera, but ParkAssist sensors still need calibration after bumper work. If your parking sensors give false readings or stop working after a repair, they need professional recalibration.
