Is the Boxster calibration the same as the 718 Cayman?

Yes. The 718 Cayman and Boxster share the 982 platform with identical ParkAssist hardware and sensor positions. Calibration procedures are the same for both models — only the roof differs.

Does the Boxster have less ADAS than other Porsche models?

Yes. The Boxster has the most basic ADAS of any current Porsche alongside the 718 Cayman. No ACC, no lane keeping, no AEB. The 911 (992) steps up significantly with ACC and Lane Keep Assist. The Cayenne and Panamera carry the full suite including InnoDrive and Night Vision.

Will the next Boxster have more ADAS?

ParkAssist sensors and Speed Limit Display are the core systems, and the Boxster's convertible lifestyle means bumper damage from parking in unfamiliar spaces while on driving tours is a common trigger for sensor misalignment.

The 718 Boxster (982, 2016–2024) carries the same limited ADAS as the 718 Cayman:

No ACC, no Lane Keep Assist, no AEB, no Night Vision. The Boxster – like the Cayman – prioritises driving engagement over automated systems. The mid-engine layout doesn't accommodate the front radar module found on the Cayenne, Panamera, and 911.

When Your Boxster Needs Calibration

After Bumper Damage

The Boxster's low ride height puts the bumpers at kerb and bollard height. ParkAssist sensors in both bumpers need recalibration after any removal, replacement, or respray where sensors were disturbed.

Convertible-Specific Risks

Boxster owners often store their cars seasonally. ParkAssist faults can appear after extended storage if sensor mountings settle or shift. More commonly, the car returns to use after winter and the first parking attempt reveals inaccurate distance warnings.

After Body Shop Work

Any work involving bumper removal – even a minor respray – can shift ultrasonic sensors from their calibrated positions. If ParkAssist readings become erratic after body shop work, recalibration is needed.
