Renault Koleos ADAS Calibration

Renault discontinued the Koleos in 2020, but its Nissan X-Trail underpinnings mean there are still plenty on UK roads with functioning ADAS that needs maintaining. Built on the Renault-Nissan Alliance CMF-CD platform, the Koleos shares its sensor architecture with the X-Trail – and if your Koleos has had bumper work or a windscreen replacement, those shared sensors need recalibrating. ADAS Line handles Renault Koleos calibration from £199 at 70+ UK workshops.

ADAS Systems on the Renault Koleos

The Koleos (2017–2020 in the UK, second generation) carried a respectable ADAS package for its era. It predates the EASY DRIVE branding – each system has individual naming:

  • Active Emergency Braking (AEB) – front radar behind the lower grille area. Standard on Signature and Signature Nav trims, optional on Dynamique S Nav.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) – radar-based, available on Signature Nav trim. Uses the same front radar as AEB.
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW) – windscreen-mounted camera, available on Dynamique S Nav and above.
  • Blind Spot Warning (BSW) – rear-quarter radar sensors on Signature and Signature Nav.
  • Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) – camera-based, paired with LDW on higher specifications.

The Koleos sensor layout reflects its Alliance platform roots – the front radar sits lower in the grille area compared to most Renault models where it's behind the emblem. This means different types of front-end damage can affect the radar compared to a Clio or Captur.

When Your Koleos Needs ADAS Calibration

After front-end repair – the Koleos's front radar is positioned in the lower grille area rather than behind the badge. This lower position makes it vulnerable to different types of impacts – kerbing, parking bollards, and low-speed frontal contacts that might miss the radar on a standard Renault. Bumper replacement, grille work, or collision repair all require radar recalibration for AEB and ACC to function correctly.

After windscreen replacement – the forward camera behind the rearview mirror controls LDW and TSR. As the Koleos ages, windscreen replacements become more common, and each one requires camera recalibration. This is our £199 windscreen calibration service.

On Cat S/N rebuilt Koleos models – as a discontinued SUV, the Koleos is increasingly entering the salvage and rebuild market. Structurally repaired vehicles need full ADAS verification – sensor mounting points may have shifted during the collision and repair process. Our Cat S ADAS guide covers what to check on rebuilt vehicles.
