Renault Twingo ADAS Calibration

The Renault Twingo is a city car with a rear-engine layout – and that unusual configuration means the front bumper area is dedicated to ADAS sensors rather than engine cooling. The third-generation Twingo (2014-2024) offered basic driver assistance on later models, with Active Emergency Braking using a forward-facing camera rather than a separate radar module. If your Twingo's AEB warning has appeared after a windscreen replacement or frontal repair, ADAS Line recalibrates it from £199.

ADAS Systems on Your Renault Twingo

The Twingo's ADAS is more limited than larger Renaults like the Clio or Captur, but the systems it does carry still require calibration when disturbed:

  • Active Emergency Braking (AEB) – camera-based on the Twingo, using the windscreen-mounted sensor rather than a bumper radar. Detects vehicles ahead and applies emergency braking.
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW) – camera-based alerts when drifting without indicating. Available on higher trim levels.
  • Cruise Control – non-adaptive (speed-only, no distance management). Does not require ADAS-type calibration.
  • Rear Parking Sensors – ultrasonic sensors in the rear bumper, standard on higher trims.

Key difference from other Renaults: the Twingo's AEB relies entirely on the windscreen camera – there is no front bumper radar module. This means windscreen replacement is the primary calibration trigger, not bumper repair. The rear-engine layout means the front bumper has no traditional powertrain-related sensors either.

Common Calibration Triggers for the Renault Twingo

After windscreen replacement – this is the critical trigger for the Twingo. Because AEB is camera-only (no radar backup), a windscreen swap affects the Twingo's primary safety system. Windscreen calibration must be completed before AEB functions again. Without calibration, the Twingo's AEB remains inactive – there is no radar fallback.

After frontal collision repair – even though the Twingo lacks a bumper radar, frontal impacts can shift the windscreen frame and camera mounting bracket. If AEB or LDW warnings appear after front-end bodywork, camera recalibration is needed.

After dashboard or rearview mirror work – the Twingo's camera is mounted behind the rearview mirror. Mirror replacement or dashboard work near the mounting area can disturb the camera position, triggering calibration warnings.

Renault Twingo ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Renault Twingo

The Twingo uses a camera-only ADAS setup — AEB and LDW both depend on the windscreen-mounted camera. There is no front bumper radar. This means windscreen replacement is the main calibration trigger, and windscreen calibration at £199 is the most common service for this model. See all Renault models
