Renault Captur ADAS Calibration

You've had your Captur's windscreen replaced, and now Lane Keeping Assist won't engage and Traffic Sign Recognition has gone blank. The windscreen company says the camera needs calibrating – but they can't do it. If your Renault Captur's ADAS systems need recalibration after a repair, ADAS Line provides fixed-price calibration from £199 at 70+ workshops across the UK.

ADAS Systems on Your Renault Captur

The Captur's ADAS configuration changed significantly between generations. The second-generation Captur (2020+) shares its CMF-B platform with the Clio V and gained a full ADAS suite:

  • Active Emergency Braking (AEB) – front radar sensor behind the Renault emblem, standard on all 2020+ Captur models. Detects vehicles and pedestrians.
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) – windscreen-mounted camera. LDW alerts, LKA actively corrects steering. LKA available on mid-to-high trims.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) – radar-based, available on Techno and above trims.
  • Blind Spot Warning (BSW) – rear-quarter sensors on higher specs.
  • Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) – camera-based, reads speed limits alongside LDW/LKA.

The first-generation Captur (2013–2019) had minimal ADAS – rear parking sensors on most trims and basic cruise control. No camera-based systems, so windscreen replacement doesn't trigger an ADAS calibration on pre-2020 models.

When Your Captur Needs Recalibration

After windscreen replacement – the forward-facing camera mounted behind the rearview mirror controls LDW, LKA, and TSR on the 2020+ Captur. A new windscreen changes the camera's alignment by fractions of a degree, which is enough to prevent these systems from functioning. This is the most common calibration trigger for Captur owners.

After front-end bodywork – the radar sensor behind the Renault emblem on the front bumper manages AEB and ACC. Collision repair, bumper replacement, or even a new grille installation shifts the radar position. If your Captur's cruise control has stopped maintaining distance after bodywork, radar recalibration will restore it.

After rear bumper repair – if your Captur has Blind Spot Warning, the rear-quarter sensors need checking after any rear-end work. Misaligned BSW sensors either miss vehicles entirely or trigger false warnings on the motorway.

Renault Captur ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Renault Captur

The original Captur (2013–2019) has parking sensors and basic cruise control but no camera or radar-based ADAS systems. Windscreen replacement on a first-gen Captur doesn't require ADAS calibration. The second-generation Captur (2020+) does — that's where AEB, LKA, and ACC were introduced.
