ADAS Systems on Your Renault Clio

The fifth-generation Clio (2019+) introduced ADAS across the range rather than limiting it to higher trims. Standard-fit systems include:

  • Active Emergency Braking (AEB) – uses the front radar sensor behind the Renault emblem to detect imminent collisions and brake automatically. Present on all Clio V models.
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW) – windscreen-mounted camera tracks lane markings and alerts the driver when drifting without indicating.
  • Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) – reads speed limit signs via the same forward camera and displays them on the instrument cluster.

Higher-spec Clio trims (Techno, E-Tech Engineered) add:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) – radar-based distance management, using the same front sensor as AEB.
  • Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) – active steering correction alongside LDW.
  • Blind Spot Warning (BSW) – rear-quarter radar sensors, relevant after rear bumper work.

The fourth-generation Clio (2012–2019) had limited ADAS – typically just rear parking sensors and basic cruise control. Camera-based systems only arrived with the 2019 redesign.

Common Calibration Triggers for the Renault Clio

Windscreen replacement is the most frequent trigger for Clio owners. The forward camera sits behind the windscreen near the rearview mirror and controls LDW, TSR, and LKA. Any windscreen swap – whether from a stone chip or accident damage – requires camera recalibration before these systems function correctly again.

Front bumper repair or replacement affects the radar sensor behind the Renault emblem. If your Clio's Active Emergency Braking or ACC stopped responding after bodywork, the radar needs realignment. Even minor parking bumps that shift the bumper can throw the sensor angle off enough to trigger dashboard warnings.

If your Clio is showing a "front radar fault" or AEB warning after a repair, the sensor position has likely shifted. Proper radar calibration restores the correct detection angle – something a generic error-code reset won't fix.

Renault Clio ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Renault Clio

If it's a fifth-generation Clio (2019 onwards), yes — Active Emergency Braking and Lane Departure Warning are standard. Older Clios (pre-2019) typically only have parking sensors and basic cruise control, which don't require ADAS-style calibration.
