Subaru Solterra ADAS Calibration

The Solterra is the only Subaru that does not use EyeSight. Built on a platform shared with the Toyota bZ4X, it runs Toyota-derived ADAS – a monocular camera plus front radar – branded as Subaru Safety Sense in the UK. This means the Solterra's calibration follows Toyota procedures, not the stereo camera process used on the Forester, Outback, and every other Subaru.

ADAS Systems on Your Subaru Solterra

The Solterra (2022+) on the e-Subaru Global Platform (e-SGP) uses a fundamentally different ADAS architecture from other Subarus:

  • Pre-Collision System – Toyota-derived AEB using a monocular camera and front radar working together. Detects vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists
  • Adaptive Cruise Control – radar-based following distance. Unlike EyeSight models, the Solterra has a front bumper radar
  • Lane Departure Alert – camera-based drift warning
  • Lane Tracing Assist – active lane centring using camera and radar
  • Reverse Automatic Braking – rear AEB, a feature not available on EyeSight models
  • 360-Degree Panoramic View Monitor – surround cameras for parking
  • Safe Exit Assist – warns when opening doors if vehicles are approaching from behind

Key difference from other Subarus: The Solterra uses a single forward-facing camera (monocular) plus a front bumper radar. Both windscreen replacement AND bumper repair trigger calibration – unlike EyeSight models where only windscreen work is critical.

Why Your Solterra Needs ADAS Calibration

After Windscreen Replacement

The monocular camera behind the rear-view mirror handles lane departure, lane tracing, and the camera element of the Pre-Collision System. A windscreen swap requires camera recalibration at £199.

After Bumper Repair – Unlike Other Subarus

This is where the Solterra differs from every other Subaru. The front bumper contains a radar sensor that powers Adaptive Cruise Control and the radar element of the Pre-Collision System. Bumper repair, replacement, or front-end collision requires radar calibration at £349. On an EyeSight Subaru, this wouldn't be needed.

After Front-End Collision

A front-end collision can displace both the windscreen camera and the bumper radar. If cruise control and Pre-Collision warnings both appeared after a collision, both sensors need recalibrating. Our Collision Calibration at £349 covers it.

Cross-Platform Reference

Because the Solterra shares its platform with the Toyota bZ4X, its calibration follows Toyota procedures and uses Toyota-compatible calibration targets – not Subaru EyeSight targets. Our technicians calibrate both the bZ4X and Solterra with the same equipment.

Subaru Solterra Calibration Pricing

ServicePrice
Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349
Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

Unlike other Subarus where windscreen calibration is almost always sufficient, Solterra owners may need both camera (£199) and radar (£349) calibration depending on which repair was performed. Our Full System Reset at £499 covers both sensors plus all surround cameras. See all Subaru models we calibrate

Subaru Solterra ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Subaru Solterra

No — the Solterra uses Toyota-derived ADAS (Subaru Safety Sense), not EyeSight. It has a single monocular camera and front bumper radar, while EyeSight uses dual stereo cameras with no radar. Calibration targets and procedures are completely different. The Solterra follows Toyota calibration patterns.
