Volkswagen Touran ADAS Calibration

The Touran is Volkswagen's seven-seat MPV, and it sits on the same MQB platform as the Golf – which means the ADAS hardware is familiar, but the vehicle's size and weight affect how sensors need to be calibrated. If your Touran's Front Assist or ACC has stopped working after a repair, the fix is a professional recalibration using MQB-specific targets. We handle it at 70+ UK workshops.

ADAS Systems on the VW Touran

The Touran (5T, 2015+) shares its MQB platform with the Golf, Passat, and Tiguan. The core ADAS systems are the same, but the Touran's taller body means sensor mounting heights differ slightly.

Standard and optional systems:

  • Front Assist (AEB) – standard from 2016. Uses the front radar behind the VW grille badge, same location as the Golf. Includes pedestrian monitoring on post-2018 models.
  • ACC – optional adaptive cruise sharing the front radar. Available on Highline and SEL trims.
  • Lane Assist – windscreen-mounted camera for lane departure warning. The Touran's taller windscreen affects camera angle compared to a standard hatchback.
  • Side Assist – rear radar sensors for blind spot monitoring. Available on higher trims from 2016.
  • Park Assist – ultrasonic sensors for semi-automated parallel and bay parking. Particularly useful on a vehicle this size.
  • Rear Traffic Alert – warns of crossing traffic when reversing from parking spaces.

The Touran shares MQB-platform sensor architecture with the Golf, but its greater height and length mean the radar beam angle and camera field of view are configured differently from the factory. A calibration that works for a Golf won't necessarily produce correct results on a Touran – make-and-model-specific targets are essential.

Common Triggers for Touran ADAS Calibration

After Bumper Repair or Front-End Work

Like every MQB Volkswagen, the Touran's radar sits behind the front grille badge. Bumper replacement, front-end collision repair, or even a new grille disturbs this sensor. Family MPVs like the Touran pick up car park damage frequently – if Front Assist or ACC drops out after any front-end contact, the radar needs professional recalibration.

After Windscreen Replacement

The Touran's Lane Assist camera is mounted to the windscreen behind the rearview mirror. After any windscreen replacement, this camera needs recalibration to maintain accurate lane detection. At £199, it's the most straightforward calibration we perform on the Touran.

School Run Damage

The Touran is overwhelmingly a family vehicle. The school-run environment – tight car parks, low-speed bumps, reversing incidents – is exactly where front bumper damage happens without the driver even realising the radar has been disturbed. Owners often notice weeks later when ACC stops engaging on the motorway.

Volkswagen Touran ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Volkswagen Touran

The Touran shares the Golf's MQB platform and uses the same Front Assist, ACC, and Lane Assist systems. However, the Touran's taller body means sensor mounting positions and calibration targets differ. Our technicians use Touran-specific settings — we also calibrate the Golf, T-Roc, and Touareg — see all Volkswagen models.
