Volvo V90 ADAS Calibration

Pilot Assist, City Safety, BLIS with Steer Assist – the Volvo V90 carries every IntelliSafe feature Volvo makes, wrapped in a luxury estate body built on the SPA platform. If a windscreen replacement or bumper repair has disabled any of these systems, the sensors need professional recalibration – not a software reset. Our IMI-certified technicians handle V90 IntelliSafe calibration at 70+ workshops across the UK, from £199.

ADAS Systems on the Volvo V90

The V90 (2016+) shares Volvo's SPA (Scalable Product Architecture) with the S90 saloon, XC60, and XC90. As Volvo's flagship estate, Pilot Assist is standard across all trims:

  • City Safety with steering support – AEB with automatic steering intervention. Uses front radar and camera. The V90's estate proportions mean the radar behind the lower grille sits at a slightly different angle from the S90 saloon despite sharing the same platform.
  • Pilot Assist – standard on all V90 variants. Semi-autonomous driving combining ACC with active lane centring. Requires both radar and camera in precise alignment.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) – front radar behind the lower grille, shared with City Safety.
  • Lane Keeping Aid (LKA) – windscreen-mounted camera. Disabled after windscreen replacement.
  • BLIS with Steer Assist – rear radar sensors in the bumper corners. The V90's long rear overhang positions these sensors further back than on SUV models.
  • Cross Traffic Alert with Auto Brake – rear sensors detecting approaching traffic when reversing.
  • Run-off Road Mitigation – camera-based system unique to Volvo. Monitors road edges and applies corrective steering.
  • Oncoming Lane Mitigation – radar and camera together detect head-on collision risk.

The V90 Cross Country variant adds raised ride height and body cladding, which changes the front radar's position relative to road-level targets. Calibration parameters differ between the standard V90 and V90 Cross Country.

Common Calibration Triggers on the Volvo V90

Windscreen replacement – five systems down at once: The V90's windscreen camera powers Pilot Assist, LKA, Run-off Road Mitigation, Oncoming Lane Mitigation, and Traffic Sign Recognition. A single windscreen swap disables all five. Estate cars accumulate motorway miles and stone chip damage – windscreen calibration is the most common V90 service we perform.

After front bumper repair: The V90's front radar is integrated into the lower bumper. Body repairs, cosmetic bumper swaps, and front-end collisions all displace it. City Safety and ACC both show dashboard warnings until the radar is recalibrated.

After rear body repair: The V90's estate tailgate and long rear bumper house the BLIS and CTA sensors. Rear-end impacts, boot-loading damage, and bumper replacement require rear sensor recalibration. The V90's sensor positions differ from the S90 saloon – a V90-specific calibration profile is needed.

Volvo V90 Calibration Pricing

ServicePrice
Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349
Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

Windscreen replacement is the most frequent trigger for V90 owners – camera recalibration at £199 restores Pilot Assist, LKA, and three other IntelliSafe features. After a collision affecting both bumper and windscreen, our £349 Collision Calibration covers multi-sensor work.

Volvo V90 ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Volvo V90

The V90 and S90 share the SPA platform and identical IntelliSafe sensor types. The difference is body geometry — the V90's estate roofline and longer rear overhang position the camera and rear sensors differently. Calibration targets are model-specific even though the sensor hardware is the same. Our equipment applies the correct V90 parameters.
