Volvo S90 ADAS Calibration

The Volvo S90 is Volvo's flagship saloon – and carries the most complete IntelliSafe configuration available. Built on the SPA (Scalable Product Architecture) platform, the S90 shares its sensor hardware with the XC90 and V90, but its long, low-slung saloon body positions the radar and camera at different angles. If your S90's Pilot Assist, City Safety, or ACC has gone offline after a repair, our IMI-certified technicians recalibrate it at 70+ UK workshops, from £199.

ADAS Systems on the Volvo S90

The S90 (2016+) sits on Volvo's SPA platform – the same architecture as the XC90, XC60, and V90. As Volvo's executive saloon, it carries the full IntelliSafe suite:

  • City Safety with steering support – Volvo's AEB with automatic steering intervention at higher speeds. Uses front radar and windscreen camera together.
  • Pilot Assist – semi-autonomous driving standard on all S90 trims. Combines ACC with active lane centring. Both radar and camera must be precisely calibrated for Pilot Assist to function.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) – front radar sensor behind the lower grille. The S90's long bonnet positions this sensor further from the cabin than on compact models.
  • Lane Keeping Aid (LKA) – windscreen camera monitors lane markings. Disabled after windscreen replacement.
  • BLIS with Steer Assist – rear radar sensors in the bumper corners. Actively steers the vehicle away from detected hazards.
  • Cross Traffic Alert with Auto Brake – rear sensors detecting approaching traffic when reversing.
  • Run-off Road Mitigation – camera-based, steers the vehicle back if it detects an unintended road departure.
  • Oncoming Lane Mitigation – uses camera and radar to detect head-on collision risk and steer back into the correct lane.

The S90's executive positioning means Pilot Assist is standard across the range – every S90 on UK roads has the full sensor suite and requires multi-sensor calibration awareness after any repair.

When Your S90 Needs ADAS Calibration

After windscreen replacement: The S90's windscreen camera controls Pilot Assist, Lane Keeping Aid, Run-off Road Mitigation, Oncoming Lane Mitigation, and Traffic Sign Recognition. A glass swap disables all five systems simultaneously. Our windscreen calibration restores them.

After bumper repair or front-end collision: The S90's long nose and low grille position the front radar in a zone commonly affected by car park incidents and low-speed collisions. City Safety and ACC both deactivate until the radar is professionally recalibrated.

After rear-end repairs: The S90's long rear overhang makes its rear bumper susceptible to reversing incidents. BLIS and Cross Traffic Alert sensors in the bumper corners need recalibration after any rear body repair.

The S90 shares its SPA platform with the V90 estate – same sensor types, same IntelliSafe systems, but different body dimensions mean different calibration parameters for each model. See all Volvo models

Volvo S90 ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Volvo S90

Yes. Unlike some Volvo models where Pilot Assist is trim-dependent, the S90 includes it across all variants. This means every S90 has the full radar-plus-camera configuration, and any front-end or windscreen repair affects the semi-autonomous driving system.
