Cupra Born ADAS Calibration

The Cupra Born is a VW ID.3 in a sportier suit – same MEB electric platform, same ADAS sensors, same calibration procedures. Travel Assist on the Born combines ACC and Lane Assist for Level 2 semi-autonomous driving, and both the front radar and windscreen camera must be precisely calibrated for the system to engage. After a windscreen replacement or bumper repair, Travel Assist disables until both sensors are recalibrated.

ADAS Systems on Your Cupra Born

The Born (2021+) runs on the VW Group MEB platform:

  • Travel Assist – Level 2 semi-autonomous driving combining ACC and Lane Assist. Requires both radar and camera to be calibrated and functioning.
  • Front Assist (with City Emergency Braking) – AEB using the front radar sensor
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) – Radar-based, standard on higher trims
  • Lane Assist – Camera-based lane keeping through the windscreen-mounted camera
  • Side and Exit Assist – Blind spot monitoring plus door-opening warning via rear bumper radar sensors
  • Traffic Sign Recognition – Camera-dependent system

The Born's MEB architecture mirrors the VW ID.3 and ID.4 – camera behind the windscreen, front radar, and rear corner radars for Side Assist. Calibration targets and procedures are shared across MEB vehicles.

Why Your Cupra Born Might Need Calibration

Windscreen Replacement

Travel Assist's lane keeping function depends entirely on the windscreen camera. After glass replacement, the camera position shifts – even by a fraction – and Travel Assist won't engage. Lane Assist and TSR also lose calibration. This is our £199 Windscreen Calibration service.

Front Bumper Repair

The Born's front radar powers ACC and Front Assist. A bumper repair, respray, or minor collision shifts the radar alignment. You'll see "ACC unavailable" or "Front Assist not available" – the same VW Group error codes (C110300) that appear on VW and SEAT models.

Travel Assist Refuses to Engage

If Travel Assist was working before a repair but won't activate now, either the radar or camera (or both) has lost calibration. Travel Assist requires both sensors to be within specification – a single displaced sensor disables the entire Level 2 system.

Cupra Born ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Cupra Born

Yes. The Born and VW ID.3 share the MEB platform with identical sensor positions and calibration procedures. The radar, windscreen camera, and rear corner sensors are the same hardware. Our technicians use the same equipment and calibration targets for both.
