ADAS Systems on Your Fiat 500L

The 500L shares the Small Wide platform with the Fiat 500X and Jeep Renegade, but its ADAS suite is more basic:

2012–2016 models:

• No ADAS systems. No calibration required.

2017+ models:

• City Brake Control (CBC) – Fiat's laser-based low-speed automatic emergency braking, using a sensor in the lower windscreen area. Same technology as the Fiat 500 and Panda.
• Activates below 30 km/h to mitigate urban collisions.

The laser sensor is positioned lower on the windscreen than camera-based systems – not behind the rearview mirror. Windscreen fitters who don't recognise it may not flag the calibration requirement.

The 500L's upright windscreen catches more road debris than lower-profile cars. When the glass is replaced, the CBC laser sensor must be recalibrated. Without it, City Brake Control may not activate correctly in low-speed situations – exactly the urban driving the 500L was designed for.

CBC Warning Light After Impact

A front-end bump or car park collision can shift the laser sensor alignment. If the City Brake Control warning appears on your 500L's dashboard, the sensor needs professional recalibration. The warning will not clear without physical realignment.
