Honda e ADAS Calibration

The Honda e is Honda's compact electric city car – and despite its retro styling, it carries a modern Honda SENSING suite with a camera configuration unlike any other Honda. The e uses side cameras on stalks instead of traditional door mirrors, adding extra calibration complexity that most workshops aren't equipped to handle. If your Honda e's Collision Mitigation or Lane Keeping has faulted after bodywork, specialist calibration restores the full system.

Honda SENSING on the Honda e

The Honda e (2020–2024) launched with a comprehensive ADAS package as standard across all trims:

  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) – Using a wide-angle front camera behind the windscreen. The Honda e does not use a millimeter wave radar for CMBS – it's camera-only, which is a significant departure from the Civic and CR-V.
  • Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) – Active lane centring via the same windscreen camera.
  • Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) – Steering and braking correction when leaving the road.
  • Traffic Sign Recognition – Camera-based speed limit and sign display.
  • Side Camera Mirror System – Cameras on slim stalks replace traditional door mirrors, displaying on interior screens. Unique to the Honda e.

Key Honda e detail: The camera-only CMBS means there's no front radar to calibrate after bumper repairs. The primary calibration trigger is windscreen replacement – affecting CMBS, LKAS, and RDM simultaneously. The side camera mirrors are unique to the Honda e and require model-specific calibration when replaced.

Honda e – When Calibration Is Needed

After windscreen replacement: The Honda e relies entirely on its windscreen camera for CMBS, LKAS, and RDM. After windscreen replacement, static camera calibration is mandatory. Because the Honda e's CMBS is camera-only (no radar backup), a miscalibrated camera means the emergency braking system could react incorrectly – making this calibration safety-critical.

Side camera mirror damage: The Honda e's camera mirror stalks protrude from the body and are vulnerable to the same knocks that break traditional door mirrors – passing vehicles, tight car parks, and car wash equipment. When a side camera unit is replaced, the new camera needs calibrating to the display system. This is a Honda e-specific procedure that general Honda dealers don't always perform.

City driving bumper contacts: Minor front bumper contacts are common for a city car. While there's no front radar to displace, the front-mounted wide-angle parking camera can shift during bumper work. If the parking view appears misaligned after a repair, recalibration is needed.

Honda e Calibration Pricing

ServicePrice
Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349
Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

The Honda e's camera-only CMBS system means windscreen calibration at £199 is the most common service – covering the camera that drives emergency braking, lane keeping, and road departure mitigation. Side camera mirror recalibration falls under our sensor calibration at £349. See all Honda models.

Honda e ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Honda e

No. The Honda e uses a camera-only system for Collision Mitigation Braking — there's no front radar behind the grille. This means bumper repairs don't trigger the P2583-76 radar error that Civic and CR-V owners see. The primary calibration trigger for the Honda e is windscreen replacement.
