Honda Insight ADAS Calibration

The Honda Insight is Honda's hybrid saloon – sharing the Honda SENSING platform with the Civic and Accord. While the third-generation Insight (2018–2022) was primarily sold in North America, UK-based Insights imported or registered here carry the same millimeter wave radar and windscreen camera system that requires professional calibration after any repair that disturbs the sensors.

Honda SENSING on the Insight

The third-generation Insight (ZE4, 2018–2022) shares the Civic's platform and ADAS architecture:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) – Millimeter wave radar behind the front grille. Maintains speed and following distance using the same radar hardware as the Civic.
  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) – Honda's AEB using radar and camera fusion for vehicle, pedestrian, and cyclist detection.
  • Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) – Active lane centring through the windscreen-mounted camera.
  • Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) – Camera-based lane boundary detection with steering and braking correction.
  • Traffic Sign Recognition – Camera-based speed limit display integrated into the instrument cluster.

Key Insight detail: The third-gen Insight sits on the same platform as the 10th-gen Civic. The radar position, camera mounting, and calibration procedures are identical. The Insight's hybrid powertrain has no effect on ADAS sensor calibration. Older Insights (first and second generation, pre-2014) have no ADAS and don't require calibration.

When Your Honda Insight Needs Calibration

After front-end collision or bumper repair: The Insight's millimeter wave radar behind the front grille handles ACC and CMBS. Front-end work – bumper replacement, grille swap, or collision repair – shifts the sensor and triggers error code P2583-76. Both ACC and CMBS deactivate until the radar is professionally realigned. This is the same fault pattern seen on the Civic and CR-V.

Windscreen replacement: LKAS and Road Departure Mitigation rely on the camera behind the windscreen. After glass replacement, static camera calibration restores these systems to factory specification. The Insight's saloon profile and motorway usage make windscreen stone damage a common trigger.

Imported or grey-market vehicles: Because the Insight was primarily sold in North America, some UK examples are imports. If your Insight was imported and the ADAS systems aren't engaging correctly, the sensors may need calibration to account for any prior repair history. Our diagnostic scan identifies exactly which systems need attention.

Honda Insight Calibration Pricing

ServicePrice
Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349
Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

The Insight uses the same Honda SENSING hardware as the Civic – so radar calibration after bumper work is our standard £349 rate. Camera-only calibration after windscreen replacement is £199. Same fixed pricing, same equipment, same calibration certificate. See all Honda models.

Honda Insight ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Honda Insight

Yes. The third-generation Insight shares the 10th-gen Civic's platform and Honda SENSING hardware. The millimeter wave radar, windscreen camera, and all calibration procedures are the same. If we can calibrate a Civic, we calibrate an Insight with the same equipment and results.
