What Lexus ADAS Calibration Involves

The three most common calibration scenarios for Lexus vehicles — each linked to a dedicated service page.

£199 Starting price

Windscreen Camera Recalibration

Every Lexus with a forward-facing camera — including models with Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Autonomous Emergency Braking — requires camera recalibration after windscreen replacement. This is the most common Lexus ADAS job we carry out.

Radar & Sensor Alignment

Lexus models fitted with Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, or Rear Cross Traffic Alert carry radar modules behind the bumper or grille. Any bodywork repair or bumper removal requires sensor recalibration using manufacturer-specific targets and procedures.

Post-Collision Full Check

After any collision repair involving a Lexus, multiple ADAS sensors may be disturbed simultaneously — including cameras, radar modules, and parking sensors. A comprehensive post-collision calibration restores every system to factory tolerances and satisfies insurer documentation requirements.

Lexus Safety System+ - What We Calibrate

Lexus brands its ADAS package as "Lexus Safety System+" (LSS+), with generational upgrades that mirror Toyota Safety Sense exactly:

  • LSS+ 1.0 - Pre-Collision System and Lane Departure Alert. Found on older models like the CT.
  • LSS+ 2.0 - Adds full-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, and Road Sign Assist. Standard on the ES, UX, and LC.
  • LSS+ 2.5 - Improved pedestrian detection and intersection awareness. Found on the current IS.
  • LSS+ 3.0 - The latest generation. Intersection collision avoidance, motorcycle and cyclist detection, Emergency Steering Assist, and Proactive Driving Assist. Standard on the NX, RX, RZ, and LBX.

The individual systems within LSS+:

  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) - Adaptive cruise control using the front radar behind the grille. Same sensor and mounting position as Toyota.
  • Pre-Collision System (PCS) - Automatic emergency braking. Dashboard warnings like "PCS malfunction" mean the radar or camera has lost calibration.
  • Lane Departure Alert (LDA) - Camera-based lane monitoring through the windscreen-mounted camera.
  • Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) - Active lane centering on highways, available from LSS+ 2.0 onward.
  • Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) - Rear radar sensors in the bumper corners detecting vehicles in adjacent lanes.
  • Road Sign Assist (RSA) - Camera-dependent traffic sign recognition. An "RSA malfunction" warning means the windscreen camera needs attention.
  • Advanced Park - Available on premium models like the LS and LM. Uses ultrasonic sensors and cameras for automated parking - adds calibration points beyond the standard radar and camera.

Knowing which LSS+ generation your Lexus has determines how many sensors need calibration. An LSS+ 3.0 vehicle like the NX has more calibration points than an older CT with LSS+ 1.0.

When Your Lexus Needs ADAS Recalibration

After Bumper Repair or Front-End Collision

The front radar on a Lexus sits behind the grille - the same position as on every Toyota. Bumper replacement, front-end collision repair, or grille work shifts this sensor. Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Pre-Collision System both deactivate until the radar is professionally recalibrated. A Lexus ES owner coming in after a front bumper replacement is a typical scenario - the bodyshop fits the new bumper, hands the car back, and DRCC and PCS are both offline. Our radar calibration service resolves this at a fixed £349.

After Windscreen Replacement

Lane Departure Alert, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, and Automatic High Beam all depend on the windscreen-mounted camera. New windscreen means new camera position - recalibration is mandatory. This applies to every Lexus with LSS+, regardless of generation.

Dashboard Warnings - PCS and RSA

"PCS malfunction" and "RSA malfunction" are the two most common Lexus ADAS dashboard messages. Both indicate sensor misalignment rather than hardware failure. If your Lexus is displaying either warning after a repair or with no obvious cause, recalibration typically resolves it. Our technicians can also diagnose Lexus-specific fault codes like B2090 and P1572 - see our ADAS error codes guide for more on what these mean.

Lexus Models - Full ADAS Calibration Coverage

The Lexus NX is the best-selling Lexus in the UK and carries LSS+ 3.0 - the most sensor-dense generation, which means more calibration points after any repair. The RX follows as the next most common, while the UX compact crossover with LSS+ 2.0 rounds out the top three. We calibrate ADAS systems across all 14 Lexus models currently on UK roads.
