Is the Aceman on the same platform as the new Countryman?

Yes — both the Aceman and Countryman U25 use BMW's FAAR platform with the same sensor hardware. Calibration procedures are shared. The Countryman adds Driving Assistant Professional with side radar and Highway Assistant, which the Aceman does not currently offer.

Does the Aceman use BMW ADAS hardware?

Yes. MINI is part of BMW Group, and the Aceman uses identical sensor hardware — the same forward camera, front radar, and ultrasonic sensors found across the BMW FAAR range. We use the same ISTA diagnostic tools for calibration.

How many sensors does the Aceman have compared to older MINIs?

The Aceman has 12 ultrasonic sensors plus camera and radar — significantly more than the older UKL-platform MINIs (F56 Hatch, F54 Clubman) which had fewer ultrasonics and no surround-view cameras. More sensors means more potential calibration points after a repair.

The Aceman is MINI's newest model – a fully electric crossover on BMW's FAAR platform with 12 ultrasonic sensors, four surround-view cameras, and the full Driving Assistant suite. It is the first MINI designed from the ground up as an EV crossover, and its sensor density means a simple bumper repair can affect multiple ADAS systems simultaneously. Our technicians calibrate the same FAAR-platform sensors on BMW vehicles daily.

The Aceman (2024+) sits on the FAAR platform:

Driving Assistant – Front Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Lane Departure Warning via windscreen camera and front radar
Parking Assistant Plus – automated parking, four surround-view cameras, and remote parking via the MINI App
Active Cruise Control – radar-based adaptive cruise with Stop & Go

12 ultrasonic sensors – close-range mapping for parking and low-speed manoeuvring

The forward camera sits behind the rear-view mirror. The front radar is behind the grille. The FAAR platform's 12 ultrasonic sensors are distributed across front and rear bumpers – significantly more sensor points than the older UKL-platform MINIs.

When Your MINI Aceman Needs ADAS Calibration

After Bumper Repair

The Aceman's bumpers contain ultrasonic sensors and – on the front – the radar behind the grille. Even a minor bumper repair can disturb multiple sensors. If Parking Assistant Plus or Active Cruise Control stopped working after bodywork, both the radar and ultrasonic sensors may need recalibration.

After Windscreen Replacement

Front Collision Warning, AEB, Lane Departure Warning, and Speed Limit Info all depend on the windscreen camera. Every glass replacement requires recalibration – our windscreen calibration at £199 covers this using the same BMW/MINI ISTA diagnostic procedures.

Surround-View Camera Displacement

The four Parking Assistant Plus cameras are mounted around the body panels. Panel repairs, mirror replacements, or rear bumper work can shift any camera position, producing distorted parking views. See all MINI models
