Škoda Scala ADAS Calibration

The Škoda Scala replaced the Rapid as Škoda's compact hatchback – and it arrived on the MQB-A0 platform with a full VW Group ADAS suite that its predecessor never had. If your Scala's dashboard is showing "front anti-collision inactive" or ACC has stopped working after a bumper repair, it's the same radar-behind-grille issue we resolve on Octavias, Fabias, and every other Škoda in the VW Group range.

ADAS Systems on the Škoda Scala

The Scala (NW, 2019–present) launched with comprehensive ADAS for a compact hatchback:

  • Front Assist with Predictive Pedestrian Protection – Standard on all trims. Uses the front radar behind the Škoda badge on the grille. Detects vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists.
  • ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) – Standard on SE L and above. Uses the same front radar as Front Assist.
  • Lane Assist – Windscreen camera-based lane keeping with active steering correction. Standard across the range.
  • Side Assist – Blind spot monitoring via rear bumper-mounted radar sensors. Available on SE L and Monte Carlo trims.
  • Rear Traffic Alert – Warns of crossing traffic when reversing. Uses the same rear sensors as Side Assist.
  • Traffic Sign Recognition – Camera-based speed limit display.

Scala-specific detail: The Scala shares the MQB-A0 platform with the Fabia Mk4 and Kamiq, but its longer hatchback body provides different Side Assist sensor spacing. The front radar behind the Škoda badge is in the standard VW Group position. The A0 platform uses different calibration target positioning than the standard MQB used by the Octavia and Superb.

Common Scala ADAS Triggers

Front bumper repair: The Scala's radar sits behind the Škoda badge on the grille – the VW Group standard position. Bumper replacement, collision repair, paintwork requiring bumper removal, or even a grille badge swap can shift the sensor. Both Front Assist and ACC deactivate simultaneously because they share this single radar sensor.

Windscreen replacement: The Scala's windscreen camera controls Lane Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, and High Beam Assist. After windscreen replacement, static camera recalibration is mandatory. Many windscreen companies complete the glass swap but can't handle the Škoda camera calibration step – which is where we come in.

Rear bumper work affecting Side Assist: Scala owners on SE L and Monte Carlo trims have Side Assist sensors in the rear bumper corners. After rear-end repairs, parking damage, or bumper replacement, these blind spot monitoring sensors need recalibration. If the Side Assist indicators on your door mirrors no longer illuminate, the sensors have shifted.

Škoda Scala ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Škoda Scala

Both share the MQB-A0 platform with the same radar and camera hardware. The calibration procedures are identical. The Scala has a longer body which gives slightly different rear sensor spacing for Side Assist, but the front radar and camera setup match the Fabia exactly. See all Škoda models we calibrate.
