Volvo V60 ADAS Calibration

Volvo's V60 estate is one of the most popular premium estates in the UK – and its longer rear overhang introduces a calibration consideration that saloons and SUVs don't share. The rear bumper on the V60 extends further than the S60, which means rear-end impacts and bumper replacements are more common and more likely to affect the BLIS and Cross Traffic Alert sensors. If any of your V60's IntelliSafe systems are showing warnings after a repair, professional recalibration is required.

ADAS Systems on the Volvo V60

The V60 (2018+) is built on Volvo's SPA (Scalable Product Architecture), the same platform underpinning the S60 saloon and XC60 SUV. The V60 carries the full IntelliSafe suite:

  • City Safety – automatic emergency braking via the front radar behind the lower grille. Detects vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and large animals.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) – front radar-dependent, shares the sensor with City Safety. Both go offline together when the radar is disturbed.
  • Pilot Assist – semi-autonomous driving combining front radar with the windscreen-mounted camera. Available on Inscription and above trims.
  • Lane Keeping Aid (LKA) – camera-based, mounted behind the rearview mirror. Requires recalibration after windscreen replacement.
  • BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with Steer Assist – rear radar sensors in the bumper corners. The V60's estate body means these sensors sit in a different position relative to the ground compared to the S60 saloon.
  • Cross Traffic Alert (CTA) with Auto Brake – uses the same rear sensors as BLIS, detecting vehicles approaching from the side when reversing.
  • Run-off Road Mitigation – camera-dependent, steers the car back onto the road if an unintended departure is detected.

The V60 Cross Country variant has raised suspension and plastic body cladding around the bumpers – this does not change the sensor hardware, but the altered ride height means calibration targets are set to Cross Country-specific parameters.

V60 Calibration Triggers – Estate-Specific Considerations

After rear bumper repair or replacement: The V60's estate rear end extends further than a saloon, making it more exposed in parking situations and low-speed reversing incidents. BLIS and Cross Traffic Alert sensors sit in the rear bumper corners – any rear-end work requires recalibration. This is particularly common on the V60 because of how often estate owners reverse into tight spaces with loaded boots that limit rear visibility.

After windscreen replacement: The forward-facing camera controls Pilot Assist, Lane Keeping Aid, Run-off Road Mitigation, and Traffic Sign Recognition. The V60's windscreen dimensions differ from the S60 – calibration uses V60-specific target positioning. Our windscreen calibration restores all camera-dependent systems.

After front-end collision or bumper repair: The front radar behind the lower grille handles City Safety and ACC. Any frontal impact or bumper replacement requires radar calibration to restore these systems.

Volvo V60 ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Volvo V60

The Cross Country uses the same sensor hardware as the standard V60, but its raised suspension changes the ride height. This means calibration target positions need adjusting for the Cross Country's geometry. Our IMI-certified technicians use model-variant-specific parameters — we calibrate both standard V60 and Cross Country at 70+ UK workshops.
